LAMP Flight Lines and Planimetric Mapping
I-75/I-285 Atlanta, GA
3DS was contracted to collect traditional planimetric/DTM, and LAMP mapping of a 1000' corridor for segments along a 26 mile span of I-75, Atlanta, GA, from the Wade Green intersection to Woodstock.
On our own initiative, 3DS had the project area pre-flown, and produced a ortho-rectified image for accurate placement of LAMP photo control targets.
3DS had survey crews place LAMP photo control targets at pre-determined locations along the interstate, ramps, exits, crossroads, and bridges.
The project area was flown by helicopter at a 1" = 113' scale.
Our technicians used Zeiss stereo plotters to compile the data at an accuracy of 0.05' or better.
In addition to conventional mapping technology, 3DS also flew the project using helicopter LiDAR, drove the project using a mobile scanner, and acquired available VanGuard data.
This project provided GDOT with its first test case using four different sources in order to ensure accuracy of the data.
